1 Student Gets Offended by School’s 600-Year Christmas Tradition, Now It’s Being Canceled

One complaint is all it takes to spoil the fun for everyone.

That’s how the left operates. They give in without hesitation out of fear of being politically incorrect.

In Germany, a school has canceled Christmas celebrations in class due to one outraged Muslim student.

From Breitbart:

A 600-year-old school in Germany has ditched Christmas celebrations during class time after a Muslim pupil said that carols were incompatible with Islam.

After a stir in local media over reports that the Johanneum Gymnasium in Lüneburg had “cancelled” Christmas following a Muslim girl’s complaint that the songs conflicted with her religion, the school’s headmaster said that the school was taking “a sensitive approach” to the festive season.

Continued:

Headmaster Friedrich Suhr confirmed that the complaint had taken place, but denied it was behind the decision of management at the school — one of the oldest in northern Germany — to postpone and make voluntary its annual Christmas party.

The headmaster also explained that that music lessons at the school would no longer include songs with religiously-themed lyrics, pointing to regional education board rules which require teachers show consideration to pupils from minority faiths.

A spokesman for the local authority appeared to dispute this interpretation of the rules, noting that while it is up to individual schools to decide how to conform to regulations, the Education Act in no way demands a ban on Christian songs.

Shame.

The sad fact is that this will continue to happen over the decades, especially in Europe where they’ve accepted an overwhelming number of Muslim refugees.

These new people aren’t willing to assimilate. They want others to bend to their will.

Sweden is having their own problems, as well.

From Breitbart:

A Swedish cultural tradition celebrated for hundreds of years, the annual candlelit Lucia procession, is dying out across Sweden several news outlets have reported.

The two main causes for declining interest in the “very Swedish”, Christian tradition is due to a more ‘outward-looking’ young generation, and that the procession is deemed insufficiently inclusive of migrants.

Uddevalla, Södertälje, Koping, Umeå, and Ystad are this year among the growing numbers of cities and towns no longer holding the iconic cultural tradition, which has been celebrated in the same manner since at least the 18th century.

Continued:

Lucia festivities are one of the foremost cultural traditions in Sweden, with carol songs that make reference to peasant communities of old, darkness and light, and cold and warmth.

Schools, towns, and villages choose a girl to play St Lucia, a Christian martyr who was said to secretly bring food to persecuted Christians in Rome, and wore candles on her head. A national Lucia is also chosen along with regional ones, who visit hospitals and old people’s homes to sing.

Jonas Engman, an ethnologist at the Nordic Museum, said declining interest in the Lucia procession accompanies a more general alienation with traditional Swedish culture.

More:

“Lucia is seen as a very Swedish tradition. Young people today have greater focus on [things happening] outside of Sweden and the Internet. So the Lucia [procession] is not seen as important.”

Due to its Swedish nature, Engman suggested the festival feels unwelcoming to migrants and people of migrant backgrounds.
