DOJ Warns 4 Major Sanctuary Cities They Will Lose Federal Grants If They Keep Ignoring Immigration Laws

Say what you want about Jeff Sessions but he has been killing it when it comes to illegal immigration, the crime it causes, and the sanctuary cities that look the other way.  Cities like Los Angeles and Chicago have basically told the federal government to pound sand when it comes to enforcing immigration law and when Obama was running the show that was totally fine. In fact, it was encouraged.

Those days are over.

AG Sessions just called out four cities and a major county for failing to do the right thing when it comes to immigration.

Enforce the law. Or pay the price.

From The Daily Caller:

The Department of Justice on Thursday singled out four cities and a major county for allegedly failing to comply with a key federal immigration law, putting their eligibility to receive certain federal grants in jeopardy.

New York, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Cook County, which includes Chicago and its near suburbs, were found to be in potential violation of 8 USC 1373, a federal statute that bars local jurisdictions from limiting communication with the federal authorities about a person’s immigration status.

The jurisdictions have until Oct. 27 to provide “additional evidence” that their laws and policies do not run afoul of the statute or face the possibility of losing federal law enforcement grants.

Going to toe to toe with sanctuary cities.

Gotta love that.

In case you missed it. Here’s more of what Sessions has been up to.

From Fox News:

Amid blossoming tensions with President Donald Trump in D.C., Attorney General Jeff Sessions flew to El Salvador on Thursday to further the administration’s fight against the violent street gang MS-13.

Forging ahead with the tough-on-crime agenda that once endeared him to Trump, Sessions plans to meet his Salvadoran counterpart, Attorney General Douglas Melendez, before convening with other law enforcement officials on what his program calls a transnational anti-gang task force. He will tour a detention center and meet former members of MS-13, also known as Mara Salvatrucha, which Sessions has called a top threat to public safety in the U.S.

Flying to El Salvador to talk tough right to the face of MS 13? That’s good in my book.

Sessions was also behind the movement to get us out of the DACA disaster that was 100% unconstitutional.

From Washington Examiner:

“I’m here today to announce that the program known as DACA that was effectuated by the Obama administration is being rescinded,” Sessions said. Later calling for an “orderly and lawful wind-down.”

Sessions quoted George Washington University Law School Professor Jonathan Turley’stestimony before the House Judiciary Committee in support of his legal assessment of the DACA program:

In ordering this blanket exception, President Obama was nullifying part of a law that he simply disagreed with … If a president can claim sweeping discretion to suspend key federal laws, the entire legislative process becomes little more than a pretense … The circumvention of the legislative process not only undermines the authority of this branch but destabilizes the tripartite system as a whole.

There are people out there who don’t like some of the things Sessions and done and Trump certainly hasn’t always been pleased.

However, when it comes to immigration, there is no denying Sessions is hitting a home run.
