NFL legend Mike Ditka isn’t one to mince words. He’s a proud American who loves his country, and he’ll say it to anyone at any time. Recently, Ditka laid his feelings bare on the situation involving athletes kneeling for the national anthem. Long story short, Ditka is royally ticked off.
Check this out, from New York Post:
The legendary Bears coach, who was a guest of NBC’s Jim Gray during the Bears-Vikings game on “Monday Night Football,” was asked little about Chicago rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky but instead weighed in on anthem protests going in the NFL.
Ditka isn’t a fan and doesn’t see a reason for them either.
“There has been no oppression in the last 100 years that I know of,” Ditka said. “Now maybe I’m not watching it as carefully as other people. I think the opportunity is there for everybody — race, religion, creed, color, nationality. If you want to work, if you want to try, if you want to put effort in, you can accomplish anything.”
He added: “Yes, I don’t care who you are, how much money you make. If you don’t respect our country, then you shouldn’t be in this country playing football. Go to another country and play football. If you had to go somewhere else and try to play the sport, you wouldn’t have a job. … If you don’t respect this flag and this country, then you don’t know what this is all about. I would say, adios.”
Not only is Mike Ditka a Hall of Fame football player and Super Bowl-winning head coach, he’s also an American patriot. That much is blatantly clear.
Here are his thoughts on Colin Kaepernick, per CNS News:
Ditka, a two-time NFL Coach of the Year, said, “I think it’s a problem when anybody who disrespects this country and the flag. If they don’t like the country, they don’t like our flag, get the Hell out! That’s what I think.”
“So, if you’re asking me, I have no respect for Colin Kaepernick,” said Ditka. “He probably has no respect for me. That’s his choice.”
DAAAAANG. Tell us how you really feel, Mike!
Last year, ESPN suddenly demoted Ditka from Sunday Night Countdown after he labeled Barack Obama “the worst president we’ve ever had.” Purely coincidental, surely.
As you’d expect, Ditka is a supporter of President Trump.
NFL ratings are down bigly this season, per Daily Caller:
“Sunday Night Football” suffered again in the ratings battle, despite the exciting game Sunday night between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans.
NBC and the National Football League scored a 10.6/18 in metered market households in the match that saw the Chiefs beat the Texans 42-34 at NRG Stadium in Texas, according to Deadline Monday.
The NFL is now the least liked sport, as popularity is down 31% among core fans, per Washington Examiner:
From the end of August to the end of September, the favorable ratings for the NFL have dropped from 57 percent to 44 percent, and it has the highest unfavorable rating – 40 percent – of any big sport, according to the Winston Group survey provided exclusively to Secrets.
Worse for football, which was already seeing lower TV ratings and empty stadium seats, the month of protests and complaints about them from President Trump drove core fans, men 34-54, away, the most significant indicator that NFL brass aren’t in touch with their base.
The Winston Poll from the Washington-based Winston Group found that the attitude of those fans went from an August rating of 73 percent favorable and 19 percent unfavorable to 42 percent favorable and 47 percent unfavorable, a remarkable turn against the sport.
